MyCityRocks support of MDA 2009
The annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) took place over Labor Day weekend 2009 and MyCityRocks helped staff the phone center taking donations from the public.
In April of 2009, MyCityRocks sponsored an event called the MDA Crawfish Boil and Music Festival. Then in June, we had a chance to head out to Camp For All in Burton, Texas, to check out the summer camp program that the MDA puts on to enrich the lives of MDA children. Many of these kids normally spend their days confined to a wheelchair, and have never had a chance to ride a horse, go fishing, or experience many of the activities most kids take for granted.
Camp For All was designed to allow children that need special accommodations to enrich their lives and enjoy swimming, archery, canoeing, biking, team sports, a ROPES challenge course, horseback riding, arts and crafts, fishing, dancing, and much more.
The money that MyCityRocks donated to MDA goes to support the costs of this program and to provide each kid with their own individual counselor during the week. It was neat to see how our contribution was making a real difference in these kids' lives.
