The Book Of Mormon Tickets:
The Book Of Mormon is a religious satire musical. It is composed and written by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. The creative team also includes Casey Nicholaw (co-director and choreographer), Scott Pask (scenic design), Ann Roth (costume design), Brian Macdevitt (lighting), Brian Ronan (sound design) and Rachel S. Mccutchen(stage manager). This is an old-style musical, created by our contemporaries. It provokes questions and leads to answers about religion, sexuality, poverty and race. On that account The Book of Mormon is not appropriate for children.
The plot follows the fate of two young missionaries - Elder Kevin Price and Elder Arnold Cunningham. They are sent to Uganda to try to persuade the citizens to adopt the Mormon religion. There, they meet Elder McKinley - one of the lead Mormon elders and the Church's current District Leader in Uganda, he is secretly gay but in denial of his feelings. Soon the young missionaries realize, that in a society plagued by AIDS, poverty and violence, a successful mission may not be as easy as they expected.
The musical was put on stage for the first time in 2004, but the production became extremely popular after performing on Broadway in 2011. The show premiered on Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on March 24, 2011. It turned into one of the top five best selling shows on Broadway and set 22 new weekly sales records for the Eugene O'Neill Theater.
On May 17, 2011, the Original Broadway Cast Recording was released. The edition peaked at number two on the iTunes Top 10 Chart, and at number 3 on US Billboard 200.
In 2011 the musical won several respectable awards. The Book Of Mormon received five Drama Desk Awards, four Outer Critics Circle Awards, nine Tony Awards, Drama League Award, and New York Drama Critics' Circle Award.
