Shrek Tickets:

Shrek is a musical, based on the same titled Oscar-winning animation film, produced by DreamWorks in 2001. The cute, clumsy, green orge once was just an ugly William Steig's character from the book Shrek! (1990). In 2008 this green monster turned into a special creature, which filled the stage with love and sympathy. Jeanine Tesori composed the music while the book and lyrics were written by David Lindsay and titled Abaire. Jason Moore and Rob Ashford direct this unique production. The set and costume design are by Tim Hatley and his brilliant decisions were awarded since he won 2009 Tony Award for Best Costume Design for his work on Shrek The Musical. The choreography is by Josh Prince, who received an Outer Critics Circle nomination for Outstanding Choreographer.

The plot of the musical comedy stays unchanged. Shrek, and his loyal steed Donkey set off on a quest to rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona from her tower, guarded by a fire breathing dragon. Add in the story the diminutive Lord Farquaad and a gang of fairytale creatures and will find yourself in a world full of laughter and pleasure.

The musical features new songs as well as the cult Shrek anthem I'm a Believer.

After some performances in Seattle, the original Broadway production opened in December 2008, and closed after a run of over 12 months in January 2010. In 2010 the production started a tour of the United States. The West End production opened in June 2011, with several international productions scheduled to open in the future. In London Shrek became a hit with both the critics and the public since its opening.

On December 2, 2011, the producers announced, that Shrek received five nominations for the What's On Stage Theatregoers' Choice Awards - Best Actress in a Musical (Amanda Holden), Best Actor in a Musical (Nigel Lindsay), Best Supporting Actor in a Musical (Nigel Harman), Best Takeover in a Role (Kimberley Walsh) and Best New Musical.
