Rock Of Ages Tickets:
As the name suggests, Rock of Ages is a musical, based on the songs of famous glam metal bands and musicians like Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Asia. The creative team includes: Chris D'Arienzo (book), Kristin Hanggi (director), Kelly Devine (choreography), Ethan Popp (music supervision, orchestration and arrangements).
In 2006 the musical premiered in Los Angeles. The Off-Broadway run began at New World Stages in New York City on October 16, 2008. In March, 2009 Rock of Ages transferred to Broadway. Today Rock of Ages is on stage at Helen Theatre in Broadway, Comedy Theatre in Melbourne and Shaftesbury Theatre in London.
Rock of Ages brings the audience back to 1987 in Los Angeles, California. It is about the love and daily struggle of two young people, Drew and Sherrie. He dreams to be rocker and she wants to be an actress. Typical for 1980s the hair is big, the costumes small, and the language a little bit rough and, of course, there is too much smoke on the stage.
The musical includes 30 songs from that era, songs like We Built This City, Waiting for a Girl Like You, Can't Fight the Feeling, Wanted Dead or Alive, High Enough and Don't Stop Believing. In 2009 the production released Rock of Ages Original Broadway Cast Recording. The album included 22 of the tracks of the smash hit musical, featuring American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis, Amy Spanger, and James Carpinello.
On July 1, 2009, the cast set a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Air Guitar Ensemble. 810 participants, including audience members and fans, shattering the previous record of playing air guitar simultaneously.
On May 16, 2011 the cast of Rock of Ages were invited to participate in the campaign called NOH8 (No Hate!), where they lend their faces and support to promote understanding, love and acceptance of sexual preference.
