Lion King Tickets:

The Lion King is a musical that debuted at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on July 8, 1997. It is based on the Disney animated film of the same name, released in 1994. The great artist Sir Elton John composed the music. The creative team includes Tim Rice (Lyrics), Roger Allers (Book), Irene Mecchi (Book), Julie Taymor (Director, Costume Design, Mask/Puppet Co-Design, and Additional Lyrics), Garth Fagan (Choreographer), Richard Hudson (Scenic Design), Michael Curry (Mask & Puppet Design), Donald Holder (Lighting Design) and more.
 
The musical tells the story of the little lion Simba and his quest to take his rightful place as king of the beasts. The main characters are well known from the movie - Mufasa, Scar, Simba, Rafiki, Nala, Zazu, Timon and Pumbaa.
 
The music includes 18 tracks, including the fabulous songs The Circle of Life, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Hakuna Matata, and especially composed for the musical The Morning Report, Chow Down and The Madness of King Scar.
 
The Lion King premiered on Broadway in previews at the New Amsterdam Theater on October 15, 1997, and the official opening followed on November 13, 1997. The production moved to the Minskoff Theatre on June 13, 2006. It is now Broadway's seventh longest-running show in history, with 5867 performances. In 1999 the musical debuted at Lyceum Theatre in the West End.
 
The original Broadway production of The Lion King won six Tony Awards in 1998 (including Best Musical), eight Drama Desk Awards in 1998 and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album in 1999. The original London production won two Laurence Olivier Awards (for Best Theatre Choreographer and Best Costume Design). The original production in France won three Molière Awards (for Best Musical, Best Costumes and Best Lighting Design).
