Young Frankenstein Tickets:
The Musical Young Frankenstein is a famous spectacle by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan. The main story is based on the comedy film "Young Frankenstein", written by Brooks and Gene Wilder and directed by Brooks in 1974. This film is a parody of the classical horror film genre, in particular the film adaptation of Mary Shelly's novel "Frankenstein", produced by "Universal Studios" in 1939.
The musical opened on Broadway in 2007 and after 30 previews and 484 performances, the Broadway production closed on January 4, 2009. That was the beginning of a big tour around America with a new cast of young stars.
The plot of the musical is almost the same as the released film. Dr. Frederick is a lecturer in an American medical school. He really annoys every time when anyone brings up the subject of his grandfather - the mad scientist whose experiments in re-animation led to the creation of a monster. So the young man insists his surname to be pronounced "Fronk-en-steen". One day a solicitor informs him that has inherited his family's estate in Transylvania. Frederick decides to travel to Europe to inspect the property and that is the start of his adventure. The story follows his attempts to complete his grandfather's masterwork and bring a corpse to life. Around him there are characters like the endearing helper Igor / who insists that his name must be pronounced as "eye-gore"/, the lab assistant Inga and the fiancˇe Elizabeth.
The musical is famous with such memorable tunes as "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' On The Ritz".
In 2008 The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein received the "Outer Critics Circle Award" for Outstanding new Broadway Musical.
