The New York Knicks are a professional basketball team, part of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association. The head coach of the team is Mike D'Antoni, supported by Mike Woodson, Herb Williams, Phil Weber, Dan D'Antoni, and Kenny Atkinson. The 2011-2012 Roster includes the players Carmelo Anthony (7), Renaldo Balkman (32), Mike Bibby (20), Tyson Chandler (6), Baron Davis (85), Toney Douglas (23), Landry Fields (2), Josh Harrellson (55), Jared Jeffries (9), Jerome Jordan (44), Jeremy Lin (17), Steve Novak (16), Iman Shumpert (21), Amar'e Stoudemire (1) and Bill Walker (5). Tyson Chandler was nominated for the 2012 U.S. Olympic men's basketball team.
The team was formed in Manhattan, New York City, in 1946. The New York Knicks won the NBA Championship twice - in 1970 and in 1973. The team has eight Conference titles (1951, 1952, 1953, 1970, 1972, 1973, 1994, 1999) and four Division titles (1971, 1989, 1993, 1994). Their home arena is the Madison Square Garden, with a capacity of 19,763 seats.
Ten of the players of the New York Knicks are inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame including Tom Gola, Walt Frazier, Harry Gallatin, Earl Monroe, Dick McGuire, Willis Reed, Dave DeBusschere, Bill Bradley, Jerry Lucas and Patrick Ewing. The Hall of Fame coaches include: Red Holzman, Hubie Brown, Larry Brown, Pat Riley and Lenny Wilkens.
The list of the retired numbers includes: 10 - Walt Frazier (Number retired Dec. 15, 1979); 12 - Dick Barmett (Number retired Mar. 10, 1990); 15 - Earl Monroe (Number retired Mar. 1, 1986); 19 - Willis Reed (Number retired Oct. 21, 1976); 22 - Dave Debusschere (Number retired Mar. 24, 1981); 24 - Bill Bradley (Number retired Feb. 18, 1984); 33 - Patrick Ewing (Number retired Feb. 28, 2003); 613 - Red Holzman (Number retired Mar. 10, 1990).

Madison Square Garden is an indoor venue located in Manhattan in New York City. The
facility is the fourth such venue with that name and opened on February 11,
1968. Madison Square Garden is often referred to as Madison Square Garden IV, MSG or The Garden. The new building is constructed directly over the remaining portions
of Pennsylvania Station. It is a multi-purpose venue that is the home of the
New York Rangers NHL Hockey team, the New York Knicks NBA Basketball team,
St. John's Red Storm NCAA Basketball team and the Big East Men's NCAA Basketball
Tournament. The venue is also used for concerts, various other sporting events, the Westminster
Kennel Club Dog Shows and has had many historical boxing matches including the first Joe Frazier
vs. Muhammad Ali fight. Elton John holds the record for concert sell-outs at 62 performances,
including the 60th performance on his 60th birthday on March 25, 2007. The stadium capacity for concerts is 20,000, basketball is 19,763,
hockey is 18,200, wrestling is 22,292 and boxing is 20,789. The Theater at Madison Square Garden
has a capacity of 5,600. The original construction cost was $123 million
dollars and the first major renovation cost $200 million dollars.
