The Denver Nuggets are a professional basketball team, members of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association. The head coach of the team is George Karl, supported by Melvin Hunt, John Welch, Chad Iske and Steve Hess. The 2011-2012 Roster includes the players Arron Afflalo (6), Chris Andersen (11), Corey Brewer (13), Kenneth Faried (35), Rudy Fernandez (5), Danilo Gallinari (8), Jordan Hamilton (1), Al Harrington (7), Kosta Koufos (41), Ty Lawson (3), Andre Miller (24), Timofey Mozgov (25), Nenê (31) and Julyan Stone (10).
The team was formed as the Denver Larks in Denver, Colorado, in 1967. They changed their name to Rockets after joining the American Basketball Association. The present name was chosen in 1974. "Nuggets" refer to the 19th century mining boom in Colorado, when the gold rush swept over the people in North America. In 1976 The Denver Nuggets joined the NBA.
Throughout the years the team used three arenas - Denver Auditorium Arena (1967-75), McNichols Sports Arena (1975-99) and the Pepsi Center (1999-present). Currently they share their home arena with the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League and the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League.
The list of the Nuggets Retired Numbers includes: 2 - Alex English (1980-1990); 33 - David Thompson (1975-1982); 40 - Byron Beck (1967-1977); 44 - Dan Issel (1976-1985); 432 - Doug Moe (Head Coach, 1980-1990). The Denver Nuggets honored legendary coach Doug Moe at halftime of their game with the Detroit Pistons on November 7, 2002. Moe, the most successful coach in Nuggets history, had a banner with the number 432 - his regular season victory total in Denver.
Seven former Nuggets form part of the ACC 50th Annivesary Team. The 50-member team was voted on by a 120-member blue-ribbon committee that was selected by the league's 50th Anniversary Committee.

The Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado opened October 1, 1999 with a sold-out performance by Celine Dion. The Pepsi Center hosts a wide variety of events including hockey and basketball games, musical acts, ice extravaganzas and circuses. The Pepsi Center occupies 4.6-acres in Denver Colorado's central Platte Valley. With more than 675,000 square feet of building space, the five-level facility is a premier sports and entertainment destination. It is the home of the NBA's Denver Nuggets, NHL's Colorado Avalanche, AFL's Colorado Crush and NLL's Colorado Mammoth. Pepsi Center seats 19,099 for basketball games and 18,007 for hockey, arena football and lacrosse games. Pepsi Center seats between 500 and 20,000 for concerts and other events, depending on stage configuration. Pepsi Center features 95 luxury suites located on two levels and 1,900 ADT club seats.

From I-25 North take the Speer Boulevard South exit, 212 A. At the second stop light, turn right onto Chopper Circle.
From I-25 South take the Auraria Parkway exit, 210 C. Turn left on 7th Street to enter the grounds of Pepsi Center.
From downtown Denver, take Speer Boulevard to Auraria Parkway. Go west on Auraria Parkway and turn right on 7th Street.
