The Atlanta Braves are a professional baseball team, part of the Eastern Division of Major League Baseball's National League. The club is defined as the oldest continuously playing team in American professional sports, being established in 1871. Throughout the years this legendary team relocated several times and had various name changes such as Boston Red Stockings (1871-1876), Boston Red Caps (1876-1882), Boston Beaneaters (1883-1906), Boston Doves (1907-1910), Boston Rustlers (1911), Boston Braves (1912-1935), Boston Bees (1936-1940), Boston Braves (1941-1952) and Milwaukee Braves (1953-1965).

Since their debut in the National League in 1876, the franchise has won 11 East Division titles (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005), five West Division titles (1969, 1982, 1991, 1992, 1993), 17 National League pennants (1877, 1878, 1883, 1891, 1892, 1893, 1897, 1898, 1914, 1948, 1957, 1958, 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1999), as well as three World Series (1914, 1957, 1995).

The home stadium of the Atlanta team is the Turner Field. Since 1999 the stadium hosts The Ivan Allen Jr. Braves Museum and Hall of Fame.
