NASCAR and Auto Racing Tickets:
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is a family-owned business that governs multiple auto racing sports events. NASCAR was founded by the race car driver Bill France Sr. in 1948. Since 2003, the chief executive officer and chairman of NASCAR is his grandson Brian France, who took over the position from his father - Bill France Jr. This family pioneered NASCAR from a Southeast based sport into a national and international multibillion dollar success.
The headquarters of the association are located in Daytona Beach, Florida. NASCAR maintains four offices in North Carolina - Charlotte, Mooresville, Concord, Conover, and regional offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Bentonville and Arkansas. The Association has also international offices in Mexico City and Toronto.
Stock cars are production-based automobiles, used in racing. This term is used to differentiate such a car from a race car - a custom-built car, designed only for racing purposes. The Stock car races traditionally run on oval tracks, measuring approximately 0.25 to 2.66 (0.4 to 4.3 kilometers) in length.
The first race in the history of the Cup series was organized in 1949. Jim Roper of Great Bend, Kansas, was the winner of the first ever NASCAR Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event, held in 1949. For a decade the Cup Series produced some of the most famous drivers in the world and the most fascinating shows in motorsports. Names like Lee Petty, Fireball Roberts, Buck Baker, Herb Thomas, the Flock brothers, Bill Rexford, Paul Goldsmith became part of the sport's history.
The three largest racing series, sanctioned by NASCAR, are the Sprint Cup Series, the Nationwide Series and the Camping World Truck Series. The Association also oversees NASCAR Local Racing, the Whelen Modified Tour, the Whelen All-American Series and the NASCAR iRacing.com Series. NASCAR sanctions over 1500 races at over 100 tracks in 39 states, and Canada. NASCAR presented exhibition races at the Suzuka and Motegi circuits in Japan, Mexico, and Calder Park Raceway in Australia.
