Wilco Tickets:
Wilco is an American alternative rock band. The group was formed in 1994 in Chicago, Illinois, by several members of the alternative country group Uncle Tupelo. The initial lineup of the band included singer Jeff Tweedy, bassist John Stirratt, drummer Ken Coomer, guitarist Jay Bennett, and multi-instrumentalist Max Johnston. The first album of the band was released in 1995, titled "A.M." and was definitely still a continuation of the older Uncle Tupelo's brand of updated country-rock. The next year the band came into the studio again and recorded 19 tracks for a new album. Some changes to the lineup in that period included Max Johnston leaving the band replaced by Bob Egan of Freakwater. In 1996, the group released the double album "Being There." The third studio album of the band, "Summerteeth," was released in 1999. The next year drummer Ken Coomer and Jay Bennett decided to leave. Coomer was replaced by Glenn Kotche. In 2001 the band started a tour that aimed to demo songs for their next album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot." The lineup for the tour included Tweedy, Kotche, Stirratt, and Leroy Bach. Huge success came for the band in 2004 after the release of their record "A Ghost Is Born." The album won 2004 Grammy Award for "Best Alternative Music Album" and 2005 Grammy Award for "Best Recording Package." After the release Bach quit the band and they welcomed guitarist Nels Cline, keyboardist Mike Jorgensen, and multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone. "Kicking Television: Live in Chicago" was a two-disc live album recorded at "The Vic Theater" in Chicago and released in 2005. In 2007, Wilco recorded "Sky Blue Sky." The album reached number five on the U.S. album charts and made a strong showing internationally. "Wilco (The Album)," was released in 2009, one month after the death of former band member Jay Bennett, who died after accidentally overdosing on the prescription painkiller Fentanyl. After a short tour, the band took a break for much of 2010. In 2011 they returned to the stage with their own label, "dBpm Records," and new album "The Whole Love." The current members of Wilco are Jeff Tweedy (vocals), John Stirratt (bass), Nels Cline (guitar), Pat Sansone (multi-instrumentalist), Mikael Jorgensen (multi-instrumentalist), and Glenn Kotche (drums).
