Social Distortion is an American punk rock band. It was founded in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band's members constantly evolved with Mike Ness being the only constant member. The current lineup includes Mike Ness (vocals, guitars), Jonny Wickersham (guitars), Brent Harding (bass), and David Hidalgo, Jr. (drums). During three decades, the band released seven studio albums, one extended play (EP), two compilation albums, and two DVDs. They toured constantly behind these projects. They disbanded for almost two years from 1985 to 1987, due to Mike Ness' drug addiction and troubles with the law. Their debut album was released in 1983 "Mommy's Little Monster," and was not a commercial success. In 1988 the band tried again with the release "Prison Bound." The band's real breakthrough came in the 1990s with the albums "Social Distortion" and "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell." Those albums were certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Their fifth studio album, "White Light, White Heat, White Trash," released in 1996, reached number 27 on Billboard 200. The international acclaim of the unique punk rock band came in 2004 when their album "Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll" entered the charts in US, Germany and Sweden. Social Distortion released "Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes" in 2011. It reached number four on the Billboard music chart, marking Social Distortion's first ever top-10 album. The album peaked at number one on The Billboard Independent Albums chart. The record became extremely popular in Australia, Canada, Swiss, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, and the UK.
