

David Ryan Adams is an American Alternative country music and rock singer. He is also a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, playing the guitar, piano, harmonica, bass guitar, drums, banjo, and mandolin. He was born in 1974 in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and formed his first band, the Patty Duke Syndrome, when he was 15 years old. In 1994 he formed the alternative country band Whiskeytown. The lineup included Caitlin Cary, Phil Wandscher, Eric "Skillet" Gilmore, and Mike Daly. After releasing three studio albums, they disbanded in 2000. In 2004 Ryan Adams formed the rock group "The Cardinals." Adams started his solo career in 2000 with the release of the album "Heartbreaker." It wasn't commercially successful, but was defined as a good debut by critics. His second solo project was titled "Gold" and was released in 2001. It was widely acclaimed and entered the charts in the U.S., France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the UK. The release was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry. In 2002, Adams released the album "Demolition." The single "Nuclear" peaked at number 37 on the UK Singles Chart and at number 45 on the Irish Singles Chart. In 2003 "Rock N Roll" was released. It featured the hit single "So Alive." "Love Is Hell" was his fifth solo studio project released in 2004. The single "Wonderwall" peaked at number 27 on UK Singles Chart. In 2005 Ryan Adams recorded the album "29." It sold 81,000 copies in the United States and 153,000 worldwide. The album "Easy Tiger" was released in 2007. "Orion," the first heavy metal album by Adams was released in 2010. His latest solo project "Ashes & Fire" was released in 2011. It peaked at number seven on the Irish Album Chart, at number nine on the UK Albums Chart, and at number 21 on the Canadian Albums Chart.
