Peter Frampton is a guitar legend and rock icon. Peter Kenneth Frampton was born in 1950 in Beckenham, England. He showed his musical talent as a child and by the age of 16 he had become the lead singer and guitarist for British teen rock band "The Herd." He also was the main songwriter and released hits like "Paradise lost" and "Sunshine Cottage." In 1968 the band released several singles and became very popular in the UK. Frampton was named "The Face of '68" by the teen magazine "Rave." This teen idol fame was insufficient for Frampton and he decided to quit the group. Shortly after, together with Steve Marriott of "The Small Faces," he founded a new band "Humble Pie." Their first album, "As Safe as Yesterday," was one of the first albums described by the term "heavy metal" in a preview in Rolling Stone magazine in 1970. After four studio albums and one live album with "Humble Pie," in 1970 Peter Frampton was ready to start a solo career. In 1972 Frampton released his first album "Wind of Change." This album featured appearances by Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, and Klaus Voorman. It was followed by "Frampton's Camel," "Somethin's Happening," and "Frampton." Despite the tremedous talent of the musician and the unique sound of the songs, Frampton's records were not selling well. On the other hand, his live performances were incredibly popular. So in 1976 he released the album "Frampton Comes Alive!" Many of the songs of the project were recorded at the Winterland Arena in San Francisco, California. Most of the singles featured his use of the talk box guitar effect. The album became one of the top-selling live records of all times and reached Number 1 on Billboard's U.S. Top 100, where it stayed for 10 weeks. Since then, Peter Frampton has released 13 albums and collections. The album "Fingerprints" was awarded the 2007 Grammy Award for "Best Pop Instrumental Album." In 2011 Peter Frampton started a world tour, dedicated to the 35th Anniversary of the released live album "Frampton Cones Alive!" After the huge success of his concerts, the tour was extended into 2012. His band includes Stanley Sheldon (the original bassist on the album), Rob Arthur (keys, guitar, vocals), Dan Wojciechowski (drums), and Adam Lester (guitar).
