Kelly Brianne Clarkson is an American pop-rock singer, which become famous after winning the television music competition "America Idol" in 2002. Her first single "A Moment Like This" was released the same year and became number one on the U.S. charts and Canada. The single was certified double platinum by the RIAA for sales of two million copies on December 8, 2003, and platinum by CRIA for sales of 100,000 copies in 2004. Clarkson's first studio album "Thankful" was released and included collaborations from several singers and song-writers like Christina Aguilera, Diane Warren and Babyface. Clarkson then returned with her album "Breakaway." The album was more rock-oriented, and she wrote several of the songs. This album would become the most successful release from an "Idol" winner, with worldwide sales of over 12 million copies. Her third studio album "My December" was released in 2007, and she co-wrote every song on the project. The first single "Never Again," reached number 8 on the "Billboard Hot 100" and number 5 in "Pop 100." In 2009 came her fourth album "All I ever wanted." It garnered Clarkson a Grammy Award nomination for "Best Pop Vocal Album." In addition to being a successful singer, Clarkson had made some strides in the film industry as well. In 2003 she appeared in "From Justin to Kelly," and also had roles in the television drama "American Dreams," "MADtv," and "Saturday Night Live."
