Jimmy Buffett is one of the greatest singers and songwriters of America. Buffett's unique music style is called "Gulf and western," including influences from country and western, along with folk music and lyrical themes from the gulf coast. James William Buffett was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, in 1946. His debut album, "Down to Earth", was released in 1970. His discography consists of twenty six studio albums, thirteen live albums, ten compilation and specialty albums, and sixty seven singles. The list of his Top Ten country hits includes "Come Monday" (1974), "Margaritaville" (1977), "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" (1977), "Volcano" (1979), "Survive" (1979), "One Particular Harbour" (1983), and "Hey Good Lookin'" (2004). The cover "Hey Good Lookin'" featured artists like Clint Black, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, and George Strait. The song peaked at number 8 on the Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart in 2004. In the last decade, Jimmy Buffett received a considerable amount of awards and nominations. In 2003 Jimmy and Alan Jackson won the CMA for "Vocal Event Of The Year" for "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere," and 2003 Academy of Country Music Awards for "Single Of The Year" and "Video Of The Year". In 2004, Jimmy was nominated for a People's Choice Award for "Favorite Country Male Singer", as well as two Country Music Association Awards: Music Video Of The Year for "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere," and Musical Event Of The Year for "Hey Good Lookin'." In 2004 and 2005 Jimmy Buffett received Grammy nominations for "Best Country Collaboration With Vocals." Buffett has written three number one best sellers "Where Is Joe Merchant?" (1992), his autobiography "A Pirate Looks At Fifty" (1998), and "A Salty Piece Of Land" (2004). Buffett has published four more books "The Jolly Mon" (1988), "Tales From Margaritaville" (1989), "Trouble Dolls" (1991), and "Swine Not?" (2008). The children's books were co-written with his eldest daughter, Savannah Jane Buffett.
