George Lopez is an American comedian. His style includes observational comedy, satire, and blue comedy. His successful professional career covers his work in television, film industry and standup performances. In 2006, Lopez received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was born in Mission Hills, California, in 1961. His breakthrough came with the situation comedy "George Lopez," originally aired on ABC from 2002-2007. Lopez was the co-creator, writer, producer, and the main star of the show. Throughout the years, he has made more than 200 television comedy, talk show, and hosting appearances. From 2009 to 2011 the actor hosted "Lopez Tonight," a late-night television talk show on TBS. The actor has released a couple of HBO Comedy Specials. In 2007 he headlined his first special "America's Mexican." In August 2009, George Lopez filmed his second HBO Comedy Special "Tall, Dark and Chicano." Besides of being an actor and comedian, he proved to be a talented writer. In 2004 he published his autobiography "Why You Crying?" The book entered The New York Times Bestsellers Top 20. It was co-written by Armen Keteyian. Lopez has played different roles in 20 film productions. In 2011 he voiced the character Rafael in the animated blockbuster, "Rio," and the character Grouchy Smurf in "The Smurfs." His other film credits include "Swing Vote" (2008), "Henry Poole Is Here" (2008), "Valentine's Day"(2010), "The Spy Next Door" (2010), and "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" (2011). George Lopez is also known for his charity work. Together with his wife, they established The Ann & George Lopez Foundation. The Lopez Foundation's mission is to create positive, permanent change for underprivileged children, adults and military families confronting challenges in education and health, as well as increasing community awareness about kidney disease and organ donation.
