Formed in 2005, Five Finger Death Punch (5FDP) is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The group derived its name from classic oriental martial arts cinema and originally consisted of vocalist Ivan Moody, guitarist Zoltan Bathory, guitarist Caleb Bingham, bassist Matt Snell, and drummer Jeremy Spencer. Bingham was replaced by guitarist Darrell Roberts in 2006, who was then replaced by Jason Hook in 2009. Bassist Matt Snell left the band in 2010 and was replaced by Chris Kael. By the end of 2006 the band finished recording their self-produced debut album, "The Way of the Fist." The album was recorded with Mike Sarkisyan and Stevo "Shotgun" Bruno and was mixed by guitarist Logan Mader. Shortly after they found a second guitarist in Caleb Bingham who played a few shows with the band before being replaced by Darrell Roberts. Shortly after recording the album, they signed a record deal with Firm Music, and in 2007 released their EP, "Pre-Emptive Strike" exclusively through iTunes. The album entered the Billboard 200 at number 199 and was certified gold in 2011. In 2007, the band went on their first major tour as a supporting act on Korn's Family Values Tour. They were also a supporting act of the North American leg of Korn's "Bitch We Have a Problem Tour." Singer Ivan Moody developed cysts on his vocal cords that forced the band to pull out of a tour with Chimaira and All That Remains. He has since made a full recovery. They supported Disturbed on their "Indestructible US Tour" in 2008. Their debut album "The Way of the Fist" was released in 2007 and garnered rapid success. That with their 2009 follow-up "War Is the Answer" both became certified gold by the RIAA, selling over 500,000 copies each in the United States. The band's third album, "American Capitalist" was released in 2011.
