Experience Hendrix is a tribute tour for celebrating the music and legacy of Jimi Hendrix. This exclusive live performance is produced by Experience Hendrix, L.L.C., a company formed by the guitarist's father, James "Al" Hendrix. The show is presented and supported by Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. The idea for the creation of a tribute concert occurred in 1995. Initially this was just a headlining attraction at Seattle's annual Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival in 1995, but the performance was so successful that instead of a single event it turned into a touring live show, inspired by Jimi Hendrix's music genius. Throughout the years the project ran under different names: The Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Festival at Bumbershoot (1995), The Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Festival (1998), Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Tribute (2000), San Diego Street Scene Tribute Concert (2001), San Diego Street Scene Tribute Concert (2002), 60th Birthday Celebration (2002), West Coast Tour (2004), Boston, Massachusetts Tribute Concert (2006), St. Paul, Minnesota Tribute Concert (2006), East Coast Tour (2007), London Tribute Concert (2007), Nationwide Concert Tour (2008), Spring Nationwide Concert Tour (2010), Fall Nationwide Concert Tour (2010), Spring Southwest Concert Tour (2011). Experience Hendrix 2012 Tribute Tour features the following artists: Billy Cox of the Band of Gypsys & Jimi Hendrix Experience, Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Randolph, Robby Krieger of "The Doors", Cesar Rosas and David Hidalgo of "Los Lobos", Eric Johnson, Keb' Mo', Dweezil Zappa, Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, Living Colour, Taj Mahal, Chris Layton of Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, and The Slide Brothers.
