Dropkick Murphys is an Irish-American band. The group was formed in 1996 in Quincy, Massachusetts, and while the band has been as pure punk rock, the band insists that they play Irish music with punk roots. The band relies heavily on Irish traditions and customs using the four-leaf clover as their symbol and staging some of their biggest performances on St. Patrick's Day. The current lineup of the group includes Al Barr (lead vocals), Ken Casey (lead vocals and bass), Matt Kelly (drums, bodhran and vocals), James Lynch (guitar and vocals), Tim Brennan (guitar, accordion and vocals), Jeff DaRosa (mondolin, banjo, bouzouki, whistle, acoustic guitar, keyboard and vocals), and Scruffy Wallace (bagpipes and tin whistle). The group released their first full-length album "Do or Die" two years after they formed, and followed it by "The Gang's All Here," released in 1999. In 2001 the band released "Sing Loud Sing Proud." Their radio hit "Walk Away" and their famous anthems "Fields of Athenry" and "Time to Go" were included on the album "Blackout." "The Warrior's Code" was their fifth studio album, released in 2005, and featured their rousing rendition of "Tessie," the Red Sox's rally anthem, which was when the team won the 2004 World Series, establishing the band in New England sports history. In 2007 the band released the album "The Meanest of Times" and recorded their latest album "Going Out In Style" in 2011.
