Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, is a Canadian rapper, actor, and composer. He was born in 1986 in Toronto, Ontario. His artistic career started in 2001, known initially for his role as Jimmy Brooks on "Degrassi: The Next Generation." Drake stepped out as a rapper in 2006, when he released his first mixtape "Room for Improvement." For the next three years it was followed by "Comeback Season" and "So Far Gone." In 2009 Drake signed a contract with Universal Motown Records and in 2009 he released his first EP "So Far Gone." It featured five songs from the mixtape of the same name, two new songs, and guest appearances by Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Bun B, and Young Jeezy. The release peaked at number six on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and won a 2010 Juno Award for "Rap Recording of the Year." In 2010 Drake received his very first gold album certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Drake's debut full-length album, "Thank Me Later," was released in 2010. It was certified platinum by RIAA after three months and certified later by the Canadian Recording Industry Association. This studio project featured collaborations with the Kings of Leon, the Dream, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne. Four of the singles became hits on the charts "Find Your Love," "Over," "Miss Me," and "Fancy." In 2011 Drake released his second studio album, titled "Take Care." The sound of this release included a mix of R&B, pop, and electronic styles. The released produced the singles "Headlines," "Make Me Proud," and "The Motto." The album entered at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, with sales of 631,000 copies in one week. Besides his own songs, Drake composes breaking hits for stars like Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, Dr. Dre, Mario Winans, K-Mac, and more.
