Blue October is an American alternative rock band. It was formed in 1995 in Houston, Texas, and the current lineup includes Justin Furstenfeld (lead vocals, guitar), Jeremy Furstenfeld (drums, percussion), Ryan Delahoussaye (violin/viola, mandolin, piano, backing vocals), Matt Noveskey (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Julian Mandrake (lead guitar). The band's debut was the album "The Answers," released in 1998. All songs were written by Justin Furstenfeld. The record sold over 5,000 copies in Houston alone. In 2000 Blue October released the album "Consent to Treatment." Then came "History for Sale," released in 2003. The release included twelve tracks, including the song "Come in Closer," featuring a guest appearance by Puerto Rican singer Zayra Alvarez. The album was won best album in the 2003 Houston Press Music Awards. Their first platinum-selling album was "Foiled," released in 2006. Two of the released singles entered the U.S. charts "Into the Ocean" and "Hate Me." The band was supported by singers Zayra Alvarez ("Into the Ocean"), Imogen Heap ("Congratulations"), and Kirk Baxley ("Drilled a Wire Through My Cheek") on the album. In 2009 the band released their fifth studio project "Approaching Normal." The album peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard charts. Then in 2011 they released their most successful studio album "Any Man in America." It hit number one on the Top Rock Albums Chart and Top Alternative Albums Chart. Throughout the years Blue October has released three live albums - "Argue with a TreeÉ" (2004), "Foiled for the Last Time" (2007), and "Ugly Side: An Acoustic Evening With Blue October" (2011).
