Rodrigo Y Gabriela Tickets:
Mexican musical duo, Rodrigo y Gabriela (Rodrigo and Gabriela), also known as "El Rodri y La Gabi", specialize in playing fast, rhythmic acoustic guitars. They are Rodrigo S‡nchez, lead guitar, and Gabriela Quintero, rhythm guitar and percussion. They gained a reputation by playing in the pubs and bars of Dublin, Ireland, and despite their unusual style, gained a cult following. Both are vegans and support animal rights. They regularly dismiss being classified to a particular style of music, preferring to say they play a fusion of many influences. Rodrigo and Gabriela met in Mexico City while playing in a thrash metal band called Tierra Acida. After growing frustrated with the limited scope of their domestic music scene, they moved to Europe. They settled in Dublin, Ireland, after hearing it was particularly welcoming to traveling musicians. They received their break when Damien Rice approached them to play the Irish music festival Oxegen. In 2005, they toured extensively in festivals around the United Kingdom and beyond. The duo have released six albums. In 2010, they performed for U.S. President Barack Obama and were featured in the 2011 Dreamworks film "Puss in Boots."
