Craig Ferguson is a Scottish stand-up comedian and actor, extremely popular in America. His style includes observational comedy, political satire, and news satire. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1962. His breakthrough in Great Britain came after a performance at the 1986 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 1995 Ferguson captured the attention of the American audience with his role in the ABC's comedy "Maybe This Time," which starred Betty White and Marie Osmond. From 1996 to 2003, Craig Ferguson starred in "The Drew Carey Show," playing Drew Carey's boss, Nigel Wick. The list of his TV appearances includes 18 different TV series, films and live shows. In 2005, he started his own TV show on CBS "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson." In 2008, for the first time the program gained higher ratings than NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," with an average viewership of 1.88 million to 1.77 million. Throughout the years he also hosted the Travel documentary series "The Dirt Detective: A History of Scotland" (1994), the show "The Ferguson Theory"(1994), and the TV program "Shark Week" (2010). Ferguson's movie career started in 1998 with a role in the black horror/comedy film "Modern Vampires." The actor has played different roles in 23 movie productions. He also wrote the feature films "The Big Tease" and "Saving Grace." In 2003 made his directorial debut with "I'll Be There," which he also wrote and starred in. The film received the Audience Award for "Best Film" at the Aspen, Dallas and Valencia film festivals. The artist has published two books, the novel "Between the Bridge and the River" (2006) and his memoirs "American on Purpose: The Improbable Adventures of an Unlikely Patriot" (2009). He was nominated for 2011 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for voicing the audiobook of his autobiography.
