Darius Rucker is an American singer who has been part of many successful projects in many different genres like rock, pop, R&B and country music. After reaching mega-stardom with the American rock band "Hootie & the Blowfish," Rucker's rich baritone would later make him the most successful African-American singer in country music. Darius was born in 1966 in Charleston, South Carolina. He started his career in 1986 as a lead singer of "Hootie & the Blowfish," with whom he recorded five studio albums "Cracked Rear View," "Fairweather Johnson," "Musical Chairs," "Hootie & the Blowfish," and "Looking for Lucky." He became the most influencial frontman in pop/rock during the mid-1990s, earning two Grammy awards and selling over 25 million albums worldwide. In 2008 Darius Rucker started his solo career which allowed the singer to explore different musical influences. He released his first solo project in 2002 the R&B album "Back to Then." The single "This Is My World" was used in the soundtrack for the 2001 romantic comedy "Shallow Hal." The style of his music surprised the fans and critics alike, but Darius would admit that "this was the album he always wanted to make long before he ever thought about joining a band." Rucker signed to Capitol Records Nashville in 2007 when he launched his country music career. He immediately released his album "Learn to Live." The single "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" logged the number one spot on the country charts. The album included collaborations with Brad Paisley on the song "All I Want" and Vince Gill and Alison Krauss on "If I Had Wings." In 2009 "Learn to Live" was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
In 2010 Rucker released his second country album "Charleston, SC 1966." The title of the album is a reference to Darius Rucker's birth place and birth year.
