The Avett Brothers are a folk rock band, formed in the late 1990s in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. The group was formed by two brothers Seth Avett and Scott Avett. Together with the guitarist John Twomey, they released their self-titled EP "The Avett Bros" in 2001. Later the lineup of the band changed. Currently The Avett Brothers includes the members Seth Avett (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, drums, percussion), Scott Avett (lead vocals, banjo, harmonica, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, drums, percussion, kick drum), and Bob Crawford (backup vocals, stand-up bass, electric bass, percussion). The band is also supported by the musicians Joe Kwon (cello) and Jacob Edwards (drums).
The Avett Brothers released their first studio album, "Country Was," in 2002. The next year it was followed by the record "A Carolina Jubilee." Their catalog includes also the studio releases "Mignonette" (2004), "Four Thieves Gone" (2006), and "Emotionalism" (2007), which offered a generous 49 songs among them. The latest studio production of the band is the album "I and Love and You", released in 2009. The album conquered the charts in North America and UK. It peaked at number 16 on the Billboard 200 best selling albums, shot up to number 4 on the iTunes album charts, and reached number 72 on the UK Albums The album included 13 tracks and featured guest appearances of 16 musicians. The song "I and Love and You" was chosen as the Starbucks iTunes Pick of the Week for September 22, 2009. The Avett Brothers also released a 13 chapter video series, featuring every song from the album. The band usually follows a heavy touring schedule. Throughout the years they released three live albums "Live at the Double Door Inn" (2002), "Live, Vol. 2" (2005), and "Live, Volume 3" (2010).
