Ronald "Ron" White is an American stand-up comedian and satirist. He was born in 1956 in Fritch, Texas. His career started in small clubs in Texas where he gradually developed the character of a cigar smoking and scotch drinking funny-man. He got nickname "Tater Salad" when he served in the United States Navy because of his love of potato salad. Later the nickname turned into a character. He would gain national recognition in 2000, when he joined the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour," a comedy troupe that included the comedian actors Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy. The troupe toured together for six years, but Ron White quit in 2003. However, during that time he traveled across America, playing in over 90 cities. Warner Bros filmed the tour and "Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie" was released as a major motion picture in theaters in March 2003, later premiering on Comedy Central as the highest rated movie in the channel's history. Ron White was weary of becoming typecast as "blue collar" and refused to join the other members of the troupe in the "Blue Collar TV" series, although He did make several guest appearances on the show. In 2003 Ron White released his first solo comedy CD "Drunk in Public." His first one-hour comedy special, "They Call Me Tater Salad" earned Comedy Central the highest rated Sunday in its history. The DVD/CD has sold over 2.5 million copies and has been certified multi-platinum. He had his own television show in 2005 on the WB Television Network called "The Ron White Show." He also had appearances in such shows as "Kath & Kim," "Reno 911!," "12 Miles of Bad Road," "Sex and the City," and "Horrible Bosses." In 2009 Comedy Central released Ron's stand up DVD "Behavioral Problems."
