San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Tickets 2011:
S.A.L.E. describes itself as "A volunteer organization that emphasizes agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas." The first Annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo opened on February 17, 1950. The first exposition was extraordinarily successful, drawing more than 250,000 visitors. Rodeo concerts, originally held in the Joe and Harry Freeman Coliseum, moved to the SBC Center (now known as the AT&T Center) in 1999. The Freeman Coliseum then became the home to hundreds of commercial vendors offering items for sale to rodeo visitors.
In 2005, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo received the Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year award by the PRCA for the first time, and in 2008 the event was inducted into the PRCA Hall of Fame. To date, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo educational commitment exceeds $113 million with $9 million committed in 2011 in the form of grants, auctions, scholarships, a calf scramble program, endowments, and show premiums paid to youth. More than one million visitors enter the grounds each year.
