Here are some answers to the questions we are frequently asked at MyCityRocks HOUSTON:

Q. What is MyCityRocks?

A. MyCityRocks is a venture designed to help our friends get involved in their communities, learn about and enjoy their local arts and music scene, and help make their city a better place to live. MyCityRocks HOUSTON is the Houston contingent of MyCityRocks.

Q. How do I join MyCityRocks HOUSTON?

A. To become a MyCityRocks HOUSTON member, you should sign up directly with us using the form on this page. When you do that, you will start receiving Represent HOUSTON, which describes the fascinating stories behind the lives of many of our MyCityRocks HOUSTON friends, and includes useful information and news about the Houston scene that you won't get any other way. We won't send you more than one or two messages a week, and we will keep your email address strictly private. Once you sign in, you will receive an email message that you will need to respond to in order to confirm your membership.

If you have a profile on the MySpace social network site, you might also add us as a friend there. You can do that using this link. You will probably also want to join the MySpace profiles for many of our local Clubs. Many of the bulletins we post to our members will be posted only to members of a specific Club. We want each person to get information about just those activities that they indicate they are interested in.

Q. Is MyCityRocks a social networking site like MySpace?

A. No. MyCityRocks is an independent company that uses social networks, including MySpace, to connect with individuals that are passionate about their interests. MyCityRocks provides people that meet through the social networks a chance to get involved in having fun, meet people who share their passions, pursue a love for the arts and music, and actually get out and make a difference in their community.

Q. Will there be a MyCityRocks in other cities?

A. Houston is our testbed, and yes, MyCityRocks is also being developed for a wide variety of other cities. If you live in another city and think you might have something to contribute in helping MyCityRocks get going in your city, feel free to send us a note.

Q. How did MyCityRocks come about?

Q. What can I do to help?

A. Get involved and REPRESENT! Join and participate in the MyCityRocks Clubs for your city, and attend MyCityRocks hosted activities, events and outings.

Q. I want MyCityRocks HOUSTON to sponsor and promote my event. How can I make that happen?

A. Send us a note and tell us what you have in mind. We are here to promote the local scene, and we are particularly interested in helping promote events that support the community and charitable causes.

Q. We are a Houston band with a planned show, or a band coming to play in Houston... what can you do for us?

A. We are here to help you get the word out... we want to tell our members that have an interest in your music about your shows, and we want to connect them with opportunities to buy your CDs, t-shirts, and other gear that is branded for your band. And if you need to have t-shirts or other gear printed, we can likely help you get it done at discounted prices. Send us a note and tell us what we can do for you.

Q. We are a Houston business or event looking for entertainment talent (such as musicians, models, artists, photographers, comedians, etc.). Can you help connect us with the right talent?

A. Houston is blessed with a rich depth of talent in each of these areas, and MyCityRocks HOUSTON is fortunate to count many of them as our friends. Please let us know your needs and we may very well be able to assist you in finding just what you are looking for.
